How it works, step by step

Four steps, and the last two happen at tax time.

  1. Pay as usualPay for Sora Homeschool during the year. Expenses count in the tax year you actually pay them.
  2. Request your receiptsAsk us for an itemized receipt for each child.
  3. Fill in Form 591-DThis is the Oklahoma form for the Parental Choice Tax Credit for homeschool expenses.
  4. File with your returnAttach your receipts to Form 591-D and file it with your Oklahoma income tax return.

What the credit covers

Sora Homeschool is $249 per month per child, so about four months of payments reaches the $1,000 maximum. Across a 10-month school year ($2,490), the credit covers around 40% of the cost.

Itemized receipts are available on request. Each one lists your child's name, the dates covered, the amount paid, and the subjects included:
